The Administration Department is responsible for the effective operation of Sedalia's municipal government.
The City Administrator is the chief operating officer of the city and is appointed by the City Council. The Administrator is responsible to the Mayor for the administration of all city affairs. The City Administrator directs and supervises the administration of all departments, offices and agencies of the City except as otherwise provided by ordinance.
The City Administrator prepares an annual budget of estimated receipts and disbursements for the coming fiscal year that is presented to the City Council for approval. The city’s fiscal year begins on April 1 and runs through the following March 31. The budget includes estimated receipts by fund and sources and estimated disbursements by fund and purposes.
The City Attorney reports directly to the City Administrator and advises his office on legal matters pertaining to city operation. The City Attorney also acts at the Prosecuting Attorney in Sedalia's Municipal Court. She is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
