Street Department

The Sedalia Street Department is responsible for the maintenance of our more than 140 miles of paved roadways and assists in maintaining some alleys. This includes various construction activities, pavement repair such as mill and overlay, chip seal work and pothole repair; concrete repairs of roadways, curbs and gutters and sidewalk; pavement markings and signs, signal repair, mowing and tree maintenance during the summer as well as snow removal during the winter.

During the winter months when more than two inches of snow/sleet/ice is expected within a 24-hour period, the City declares a snow emergency and the Emergency Snow Routes are put into affect.  Click here to view the Emergency Snow Route Map.

The Street Department also provides street sweeping for streets maintained by the City. The downtown business district is swept on at a least a weekly basis and residential areas are swept on a periodic basis.

Building and maintenance of streets and sidewalks within the City of Sedalia are supported by the City's General Fund from sales tax and state and federal funds, as made available.
