Mayor Proclaims Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Day
(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : Mayor Bob Wasson issued a proclamation designating April 29, 2008 as Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Day in Sedalia.
Text of Proclamation
Whereas: the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pettis County involves more than 250 citizens in more than 24,000 hours of service in our community; and
Whereas: RSVP are answering the call of President George W. Bush “to commit at least two years – 4,000 hours over the rest of your lifetime – to the service of your neighbors and your nation”; and
Whereas: RSVP provides opportunities for individuals 55 and older to serve on a regular basis or to assist with short-term/special projects in a variety of settings, sharing a lifetime of experience while maintaining an active, positive role in their community; and
Whereas: RSVP volunteers serve from a few hours a month to many hours a week, from helping at Bothwell Regional Health Center and delivering meals at the Sedalia Senior Center to serving on boards, meeting community needs and making a lasting difference, and so much more; and
Whereas: Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pettis County, on April 29, 2008, gathers for its Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at First Christian Church in Sedalia.
NOW THEREFORE I, Bob Wasson, Mayor of the City of Sedalia, Missouri, do hereby proclaim April 29, 2008 as "Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Recognition Day" in the City of Sedalia and extend our community’s appreciation to our many Retired and Senior Volunteers for their caring attention and service to our community.
