The City of Sedalia has activated the EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 as the National Weather Service has reported the potential for steadily falling temperatures with rain beginning late Friday afternoon, changing over to snow with accumulations from 1-3 inches overnight. Please click here to view the January 18, 2019 public service announcement issued by the City of Sedalia.

Drivers who routinely park on streets designated as Emergency Snow Routes will need to move their vehicles to other locations as snow is expected to accumulate during nighttime hours. City crews will be working overnight Friday to ensure Emergency Snow Routes remain open. Cars remaining parked on emergency snow routes may be towed or plowed in as crews work to keep these roadways open for emergency vehicles.

Mayor Pro-Tem Proclaims RSVP Day

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : On Monday, 4, 2009, Mayor Pro-Tem Elaine Horn issued a proclamation designating May 14, 2009 as Retired and Senior Voluntter Program (RSVP) Day in Sedalia. 

Text of Proclamation

WHEREAS, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pettis County involves more than 250 citizens in more than 24,000 hours of service in our community; and 

WHEREAS, RSVP are answering the call of President Barak Obama “to commit at least two years – 4,000 hours over the rest of your lifetime – to the service of your neighbors and your nation”; and 

WHEREAS, RSVP provides opportunities for individuals 55 and older to serve on a regular basis or to assist with short-term/special projects in a variety of settings, sharing a lifetime of experience while maintaining an active, positive role in their community; and 

WHEREAS, RSVP volunteers serve from a few hours a month to many hours a week, from helping at Bothwell Regional Health Center and delivering meals at the Sedalia Senior Center to serving on boards, meeting community needs and making a lasting difference, and so much more; and 

WHEREAS, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Pettis County, on May 14, 2009, gathers for its Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at First Christian Church in Sedalia.

NOW THEREFORE I, Mary Elaine Horn, Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of Sedalia, Missouri, do hereby proclaim May 14, 2009 as "Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Recognition Day" in the City of Sedalia and extend our community’s appreciation to our many Retired and Senior Volunteers for their caring attention and service to our community.
