EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES ACTIVATED

The City of Sedalia has activated the EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 as the National Weather Service has reported the potential for steadily falling temperatures with rain beginning late Friday afternoon, changing over to snow with accumulations from 1-3 inches overnight. Please click here to view the January 18, 2019 public service announcement issued by the City of Sedalia.

Drivers who routinely park on streets designated as Emergency Snow Routes will need to move their vehicles to other locations as snow is expected to accumulate during nighttime hours. City crews will be working overnight Friday to ensure Emergency Snow Routes remain open. Cars remaining parked on emergency snow routes may be towed or plowed in as crews work to keep these roadways open for emergency vehicles.

Mayor Proclaims Journey for Hope Day

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : On Monday, August 24, 2009, Mayor Mary Elaine Horn issued a proclamation designating September 19, 2009 as Journey for Hope Day in Sedalia. 

Text of Proclamation

WHEREAS, traumatic brain injuries can happen so suddenly; they can happen to anyone; and

WHEREAS, within a year’s time, 1.4 million people of all ages in the United States sustain a traumatic brain injury; 18,000 of them are Missourians; and

WHEREAS, just as quickly, individuals decide to triumph over these injuries and commit themselves to achieving the same goals and quality of life desired by all Americans; and

WHEREAS, the first Journey For Hope Walk and 5K Run and Educational Expo will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in the Mathewson Exhibition Center on the Missouri State Fairgrounds; and

WHEREAS: This benefit will provide the Brain Injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO) and the Centers for Independent Living with resources necessary to provide quality services to persons with brain injuries and support for their families.

NOW THEREFORE I, Mary Elaine Horn, Mayor of the City of Sedalia, do hereby proclaim September 19, 2009 as "Journey For Hope Day" in the City of Sedalia, Missouri, and call upon all citizens of Sedalia to participate in this observance.
