Keith Riesberg submits Resignation as City Administrator,
Transition Plan Announced

(Sedalia, Missouri): City Administrator Keith J. Riesberg formally submitted his letter of resignation to Mayor Elaine Horn and the Sedalia City Council this afternoon. The resignation comes a day after the City Council of the City of O’Fallon, Missouri approved a contract making Riesberg the next City Administrator of O’Fallon. Riesberg submitted his resignation and thirty (30) day notice in accordance with the terms of his contract with the City of Sedalia.

Riesberg, who started with the City of Sedalia in April, 2005, will continue working with the City’s elected officials and senior staff to ensure a smooth transition period.  His last day with the City of Sedalia will be Tuesday, December 29, 2009.

During the transition period, Assistant to the City Administrator Brian Koral will be serving as the Interim City Administrator.  Koral will work with the Mayor, City Council and City staff to continue the focus on providing quality services to the community, moving capital projects forward towards completion and formulating the fiscal year 2011 City budget.

The City has already begun planning for the recruitment of the next City Administrator.  Mayor Elaine Horn has established a Search Committee comprised of City Councilmembers, City staff members and members of the public that will begin meeting in the near future.

In the coming weeks, the City will post the position notice with the Missouri Municipal League (MML), the International City Managers Association (ICMA) and other professional organizations.  Minimum qualifications for the position will include a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration with a Master’s degree preference and five (5) years of progressively responsible municipal experience.

The City expects to set an application deadline in mid-January with interviews continuing through February, 2010.

Mayor Horn and the City Council will hold a reception in honor of Keith Riesberg following the City Council meeting on Monday, December 21, 2009.  The public is encouraged to attend.
