3/13/2019 - Firefighter Appreciation Day at the Missouri State Capitol

Sedalia Fire Chief Greg Harrell and Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Irwin attended Firefighter Appreciation Day at the Missouri State Capitol on March 7, 2019. While there, they had the opportunity to meet Missouri Governor Mike Parson.

According to the News Tribune in Jefferson City, "Missouri's more than 24,000 career and volunteer fire service members work in more than 850 departments." Along with thanking our Missouri firefighters for their service, the day also highlighted the duties of the Missouri Fire Service Funeral Assistance Team, a group of firefighters deployed to assist with funeral services for a firefighter when killed in the line-of-duty. Chief Harrell has served on the Missouri Fire Service Funeral Assistance Team since 2007.
