EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES ACTIVATED

The City of Sedalia has activated the EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 as the National Weather Service has reported the potential for steadily falling temperatures with rain beginning late Friday afternoon, changing over to snow with accumulations from 1-3 inches overnight. Please click here to view the January 18, 2019 public service announcement issued by the City of Sedalia.

Drivers who routinely park on streets designated as Emergency Snow Routes will need to move their vehicles to other locations as snow is expected to accumulate during nighttime hours. City crews will be working overnight Friday to ensure Emergency Snow Routes remain open. Cars remaining parked on emergency snow routes may be towed or plowed in as crews work to keep these roadways open for emergency vehicles.

March 2008 is Disaster Preparedness Month in Sedalia

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : Mayor Bob Wasson and Presiding Commissioner Rusty Kahrs issued a joint proclamation today designating the month of March as Disaster Preparedness Month in Sedalia. 

Text of Proclamation

"WHEREAS: We only have to watch the Weather Channel to know that severe weather has been known to strike at any time in the State of Missouri, especially during springtime; and

WHEREAS: March 2008 has been designated Disaster Preparedness Month, with the week of March 10th through March 14th identified as Severe Weather Awareness Week; and

WHEREAS: The National Weather Service (NWS), SEMA, and the Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Management Agency wish to promote Severe Weather Awareness Week to all citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, DO WE, Bob Wasson, Mayor of the City of Sedalia, and Rusty Kahrs, Pettis County Commissioner, proclaim a Statewide Severe Weather Tornado Drill to be held in the City of Sedalia and Pettis County, Missouri at 1:30 pm on March 11, 2008.

We encourage all citizens to actively participate in this event and review home emergency plans during the month of March."
